O’Brien of Troy FFA Chapter Named State FFA Secretary

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – During the 98th Missouri FFA Convention, Madeline O’Brien was named a 2026-2027 State FFA Secretary. Her parents are James and Janet O’Brrien.

Her advisors are Rob Calvin, Evan Lagemann and Matt McCrory. 

O’Brien’s supervised agricultural experience involves assisting the Troy Agricultural Education Department by serving as a department assistant and contributing to educational outreach events that involve growing recruitment and student support activities. She continued to help in programs such as Ag Education on the Move and middle school recruitment.

She has competed in the parliamentary procedure, the State of Missouri Young Farmers/Young Farm Wives Speech Contest, and the agricultural issues forum.  She currently serves as Troy FFA President and Area V Treasurer.

Along with FFA, O’Brein has participated in National Honor Society, student ambassadors and mentors and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. 

After high school, O’Brein plans to attend the University of Missouri, pursuing a degree in agricultural education, along with minors in political science and agribusiness management.


The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
