Waters of Norborne FFA Chapter Named to Missouri FFA Leadership

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – During the 98th Missouri FFA Convention, Kristin Waters was named a 2026-2027 State FFA Vice President. Her parents are Glen and Kyla Waters. Her advisor is Stephanie Smithson. 

Waters supervised agricultural experience program includes raising a herd of Hereford cattle to sell to local, state and national levels to showcase her genetics. 

Waters has held numerous roles, such as Norborne FFA Chapter President for two years and the Area II 1st Vice-President.  

Her involvement in FFA includes leadership development events where she placed first in the Division I Public Speaking contest, fourth in Division II and third in the Missouri Cattlemen’s public speaking contest. 

Waters is currently serving as the president of the National Honor Society and senior class representative for the student council. In the summer of 2025, Waters was selected to attend Missouri Girls State, where she ran for governor in her respective party. She has participated in cross country, golf, basketball, track and marching band. Waters is currently serving as the Northwest Representative on the Missouri State High School Activities Association Student Advisory Committee. She belongs to the Missouri Junior Hereford Association, is a member of its board of directors, and currently serves as its president. In 2022, she received the honor of the Junior Golden Bull Award from the National Junior Hereford Association.

Waters will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she will pursue a major in agriculture education with an emphasis in communications and leadership.


The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
