As an FFA member, Magruder served as assistant reporter, reporter and president for the South Shelby FFA Chapter, and first vice president of the Area III FFA Association. She participated in FFA Creed Speaking and was a state competitor in the Division II and advanced speaking contests. She also competed at the state level in the Farm Bureau Fall Speaking contest and in nursery and landscaping. At the chapter level, Magruder was awarded Star Greenhand and Most Active Junior.
