Mason wins Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship Proficiency

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – Benjamin Mason of Higginsville won the Missouri FFA Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance – Entrepreneurship proficiency award at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Mason, a Lafayette County C-1 High school graduate, is the son of Mike and Kim Mason. He is a member of the Higginsville FFA Chapter. His advisors are Adam Brock and Courtney Chaney.

 

Mason’s supervised agricultural experience focuses on repairing and reselling equipment. His responsibilities include identifying the potential problems with machinery, averaging the cost to make repairs and calculating the potential profit and selling period for each project. Another aspect of Benjamin’s business is that he completes custom repair work for members of his community.

 

Mason is currently attending Missouri S&T where he is majoring in mechanical Engineering. Upon completing his degree, Benjamin plans to return home to pursue a career applying his engineering knowledge while serving his agricultural community.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance – Entrepreneurship is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Heritage Tractor sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
