COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – Isabella Gill of South Shelby won the Missouri FFA Food Service Proficiency Award at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention.
Gill, a senior at South Shelby High School, is the daughter of Jen and Matt Gill. She is a member of the South Shelby FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Kristina Parman and Mitch Schmidt.
Gill’s supervised agricultural experience program involves working at her local nursing home called Baptist Homes of Shelbina as a Dietary Assistant. She is responsible for creating special request meals for the residents and making sure that Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) are followed by all kitchen staff.
After graduating high school, Gill’s plans include studying Agricultural Business Management at State Technical College of Missouri. She then plans on working to implement a program that will help donate fresh produce and meat to local nursing homes. She states that she will also still continue to help her nursing home even when she no longer works there.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Food Service is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Seitz Fundraising sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
