Anderson of Lathrop FFA Chapter named state vice president

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2026 – Connal Anderson of the Lathrop FFA Chapter was named a 2026-2027 State FFA Vice President during the 98th Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Chris and Andrea Anderson. Anderson’s advisors are Maggie McClain and Emily Schoning.
Anderson’s Supervised Agricultural Experience involves a wildlife management program where he traps and removes pests for local agriculturalists. He also is involved in the areas of forage production, and fruit and nut production; and works part-time at a local hardware store.
As an FFA member, Anderson served as president and secretary of the Lathrop FFA Chapter and president of the Area 1 FFA Association. He participated in extemporaneous speaking, as well as the Missouri Farm Bureau and Missouri Pork Producers prepared public speaking contests. Anderson competed at the state level in both entomology and dairy cattle career development events.
Anderson recently won the Area 1 Wildlife Management Proficiency Award. He also has won area proficiencies in forage production, and fruit and nut production. He was named Lathrop FFA Chapter Star Farmer in 2025.
In addition to FFA, Anderson is president of the Lathrop High School National Honor Society and editor-in-chief of the literary magazine. He participated in Missouri Boys State and volunteered as a tutor at Lathrop Middle School. Anderson also participated in football, track, scholar bowl and trapshooting. Additionally, he is active in the Civil Air Patrol, where he holds the rank of cadet lieutenant colonel.
Following graduation, Anderson plans to attend Missouri University of Science and Technology to major in petroleum engineering.
The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
