Miller wins Swine Production Placement Proficiency

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – Michaela Miller of Bogard won the Missouri FFA Swine Production Placement Proficiency Award at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention.
Miller is a student at Carrollton R-VII High School and is the daughter of Brandon and Alesa Miller. She is a member of the Carrollton Area Career Center FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Brooke Swindler and Megan Kiser.
Her supervised agricultural experience involves working at Raasch Farms and Miller Show Pigs, where she helps raise commercial and purebred swine. Her duties include daily animal care, feeding, assisting with breeding and farrowing, maintaining clean and safe living conditions and preparing show pigs for exhibitions. She also helps monitor herd health and works with both market and show animals.
Miller has helped raise and market show pigs, feeder pigs, and finished hogs, while gaining experience in genetics, nutrition and customer relations. She has also been involved in marketing animals and expanding customer outreach through media and communication.
Miller has been active in 4-H, serving in multiple leadership roles and participates in organizations such as the Missouri Youth Show Pig Junior Board. She has also been involved in FFA activities, state events and livestock judging.
After high school, Miller plans to attend college to study agricultural business with minors in animal science and journalism while continuing to be involved in her family’s swine operation.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Swine Production Placement is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Missouri Pork Association sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
