COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2026 – Lillian Floyd of Belton won the Missouri FFA Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management Proficiency Award at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention.

Floyd, a junior at Belton High School, is the daughter of Stephan and Cherry Floyd. She is a member of the Belton FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Misti-Ane’ Pearce.

Floyd’s supervised agricultural experience involves running the school compost program. She is responsible for collecting and cleaning the buckets and turning the compost bins for aeration. She also collaborates with other students and teachers for bin collection, and helped create posters and slideshows for student awareness.

After graduating high school, she is interested in studying environmental science concepts in college. She also wants to work with animals and continue to compost on a smaller scale at her house.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Missouri Department of Natural Resources sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
