Forsyth FFA forestry team wins state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – The Forsyth FFA Chapter won the forestry career development event at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 43 teams in the competition.

The team members are Ryan Saffle, Carter Williams, Colten Mathews and Josh Seek. Saffle placed second, Williams placed fifth, Matthews placed 16th and Seek placed 19th out of 162 participants. The Forsyth FFA advisor is Clint Gailey.

The forestry CDE tests the diversity of FFA members’ knowledge of the forestry industry. Students must be proficient in tree equipment identification, forest management, forestry applications and also take a general knowledge exam.

Sponsored by Past FFA State Officers, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
