Rojas of Linn County FFA Chapter named 1st Vice President

COLUMBIA Mo., April 19, 2024 – During the 96th Missouri FFA Convention, Mikela Rojas was named as 2024-2025 State FFA 1st Vice President. Rojas is a member of the Linn County FFA Chapter. Her parents are Bryon and Alicia Rojas. Her Advisor is Jeff Haley. 

Rojas’s Supervised Agricultural Experience program consists of a herd of registered Red Angus cattle in which she raises calves and sells beef to a local customer base. She also owns a nursery operation where she pots, grows, and sells mums.

During her FFA career, Rojas has served as Reporter, Vice President, and President of the Linn County chapter and  President of the Area III FFA Association. 

Rojas placed first in Area III with her Nursery Operation Proficiency Application, was selected to attend HYMAX Academy, and is a 2023 graduate of the Missouri Agribusiness Academy.  She also competed in many speaking competitions for FFA and other organizations, placing first at the Missouri Cattlemen’s Speaking Contest. Rojas attended the Public Speaking Academy and won the intermediate level of the competition. She is also a four-time winner of her division at the Area Fall Speaking contest. At the chapter level, Rojas was selected as Star Greenhand, Star Sophomore, and Star in Agribusiness. 

In addition to FFA, Rojas has also been elected as Senior Class President, Student Council President, and Future Teachers of America  President. She also participates in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honors Society, and the varsity basketball, softball, and track teams. Outside of school, she is involved in Missouri Junior Cattlemen’s, National Red Angus Association, and has served as the Northeast Representative to the Missouri State 4H council. She was selected to attend the Missouri Electric Cooperatives Youth Tour to Washington D.C., and to serve as the Missouri Cattlemen’s Beef Queen. As a church member, Rojas participates on multiple committees and helps with Vacation Bible School. 

Rojas plans to attend Moberly Area Community College to pursue a degree in Agriculture. She then plans to transfer to the University of Missouri to continue her degree in Agriculture with an emphasis in Communications. After graduation Rojas plans on working in a marketing or public relations position for an agricultural company and would like to assist her father in operating their family cattle farm.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
