Hawkins of Ashland FFA chapter named State FFA Vice President

COLUMBIA Mo., April 19, 2024- During the 96th Missouri FFA State Convention, Amelia Hawkins was named a 2024-2025 State FFA Vice President. Hawkins is a member of the Ashland FFA Chapter. Her parents are Kimberly and David Hawkins. Her advisors are Rebekah Hammett and Jeff Suthoff.
Hawkins’ supervised agricultural experience program consists of working at Claysville Store restaurant where she prepares food in the kitchen, then serves the food to patrons. In addition to her placement SAE, Hawkins owns laying hens, whose eggs she sells to local community members.
Hawkins has served as chapter president and secretary of the Ashland FFA Chapter, as treasurer of the Area 4 FFA Association.
Hawkins has participated in FFA Knowledge leadership development event contests, as well as the floriculture and forestry career development event contests. Hawkins also earned a Group I rating as an individual at the state level for each contest. Hawkins participated in the Teach Ag Fall Public Speaking Contest in 2024.
Hawkins has earned the Scholarship, Service, and Leadership Award at the chapter level. In addition, she has earned the State FFA Camp Leadership medal, and participated in the Washington Leadership Conference. Hawkins has been a member of the quiz bowl team and national honor society, participates in quarterly blood drives and volunteers with the food bank. Hawkins is a member of Forum Christian Church and has served as a volunteer of the children’s ministry.
After graduation, Hawkins plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she plans to study agriculture education. Hawkins plans to be an agriculture educator and FFA advisor.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
