COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Alaina Hoffman of Lewistown won the Missouri FFA production Poultry Production Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. 

Hoffman, a junior at Highland High School, is the daughter of Bob and Holly Hoffman. She is a member of the Lewis County C-1 FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Angie Hamlin. 

Hoffman’s supervised agricultural experience program involves raising turkeys, broilers, and show flock.  She is also in charge of marketing for her poultry production operation. 

Hoffman has served as her chapter’s vice president and secretary. She has competed in the entomology and dairy foods career development events. In addition to FFA, Hoffman has been a member of the Monticello 4-H club, student council and band.

After graduating high school, Hoffman’s plans include studying radiology at a university.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Poultry Production is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Poultry Federation sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
