COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Alexa Groeber of Montgomery City won the Missouri FFA Outdoor Recreation Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. 

Groeber, a senior at Montgomery Co. R-II High School, is the daughter of Bryan and Kelly Groeber. She is a member of the Montgomery Co. R-II FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Mary Leykamp and Amanda Sullivan.

Groeber’s supervised agricultural experience program involves employment at Graham Cave State Park. Her responsibilities include hosting interpretive programs, removing invasive species, and trail maintenance.

As an FFA member, Groeber has competed in the Meats Evaluation career development event and exhibited at the Missouri State Fair. In addition to FFA, Groeber is a member of the Missouri Junior Cattlemen’s Association and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

After graduating high school, Groeber’s plans include studying business administration at College of the Ozarks.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Outdoor Recreation is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Department of Conservation sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
