COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Gretchen Brooks of Rich Hill won the Missouri FFA Agriscience Research Animal Systems Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
Brooks, a senior at Rich Hill High School, is the daughter of Daniel and Monica Brooks. She is a member of the Rich Hill FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Lora Rapp.
Brooks’ supervised agricultural experience program involves researching the amount of protein meat rabbits require in their diets. Her responsibilities include maintaining and observing feed groups in a feed trial.
As an FFA member, Brooks has attended the Youth Leadership Day at the American Royal and Public Speaking Institute. In addition to FFA, Brooks is a member of the National Honor Society and student council.
After graduating high school, Brooks plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University to study food science and nutrition.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agriscience Research Animal Systems is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. FMC Corporation sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
