North Shelby FFA agronomy team wins state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 19, 2024 – The North Shelby FFA Chapter won the agronomy career development event at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 60 teams in the competition.

Team members include TJ Belt, Weston Christine, Lindy Schwanke and Trinity Dreckshage. Of 233 participants, Belt placed third, Christine placed fourth, Schwanke placed fifth and Dreckshage placed 10th. The North Shelby FFA advisors are Jenny Bradley, Tim Davis and Harold Eckler.

Individuals in this contest evaluate crop production and factors that influence the quality of seed and forage crops.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals. 

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
