COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2024—The Missouri FFA Association awarded the Carthage FFA Chapter a Gold Emblem and a Top Chapter Award. Carthage placed seventh out of 362 chapters. Only 10 percent of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year. The top chapters compete for the National FFA Chapter Award.

The National Chapter Award Program recognizes FFA chapters that actively implement the organization’s mission and strategies. Chapters improve operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities emphasizing growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership. FCS Financial sponsors this award. The Carthage FFA advisors are J. Brandon Duff, William Howard, Justin Mauss, and Cindi Noblitt.

The Carthage FFA hosted events including Carthage Cultivate and Connect Tours, where members facilitated tours featuring agricultural sectors; Can it Up for a Cause, where students hosted a canned food drive for the community while partnering with the elementary school; and Green Light for Tractor Safety Day, where members promoted the importance of farm safety to third graders while working alongside the local John Deere dealer.

The top chapters in Missouri will compete for the National FFA Chapter Award. Winners will be announced this fall at the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
