COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2026 — Skyla Moore of the Bolivar FFA Chapter won the Division II prepared public speaking leadership development event at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention. Sixteen students from six districts were selected to compete at the state level. The Bolivar FFA advisors are Ashley Brown and Jason King.
Moore received a cash award from the Jerry Litton Memorial Fund of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Agricultural Education Division.
Contestants deliver a four-to-six-minute speech based on an agriculture topic they have selected and researched. The contestants present their speech in front of a panel of judges and then undergo an additional four minutes of questions. The event helps students to polish logical thinking and verbal skills needed in the classroom.
Sponsored by the Past State Officers, this event is one of many ways the FFA prepares student members for career success. LDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
