Columbia, Mo., April 17, 2026 – Peyson Jay Larrick won the Missouri FFA Forage Production Proficiency award at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention.

Larrick, a Junior at South Shelby High School, is the son of Tim and Michelle Larrick. He is a member of the South Shelby FFA Chapter. His advisors are Mitch Schmidt and Kristina Parman.

Larrick works on his family’s farm hauling, mowing, raking hay, and maintaining hay equipment. Thanks to this hands-on experience, Larrik has gained knowledge and experience in plant science, forage harvesting techniques, equipment management practices, as well as how to create quality forage for market and livestock consumption.

As an FFA member, Larrick has participated in many activities, including District Fair exhibitor, area leadership conference, Missouri State Fair exhibitor, and trap shooting. Outside of FFA, Larrick has participated in varsity basketball, BBQ club, Archery, and National Honor Society.

After graduation, Larrick plans to attend State Tech, studying Diesel Mechanics. He hopes to open a shop of his own to help farmers with their personal equipment and continue working at Larrick Farms.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Forage Production is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. MTI Greenhouse Solutions sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
