COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – Hayden Duncan of Columbia won the Missouri FFA Sheep Production Proficiency Award at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention.
Duncan, a freshman at Kansas State University, is the son of Kevin and Diana Duncan. He is a member of the Columbia FFA Chapter. His advisors are Kevin Duncan, Austin DeHaven, Taylor Howell, Matt Praiswater, Jacob Rahmer, and Sherie Rodekohr.
Duncan’s supervised agricultural experience involves the ownership and management of a sheep production enterprise focused on raising and marketing high-quality lambs to other 4-H and FFA members. His operation has grown from a small-scale operation to a flock of breeding and market sheep, where he utilizes artificial insemination, genetic selection and daily herd management practices to improve the quality and performance of his livestock.
As an FFA member, Duncan has exhibited livestock at the Missouri State Fair and other competitions, earning champion and grand champion titles. He has been an active member of his FFA chapter and has also participated in various leadership and career development events. Outside of FFA, Duncan is involved in organizations such as the Missouri Sheep Producers.
Duncan is currently attending Kansas State University, where he is majoring in agricultural business. He plans to pursue a career in agricultural finance while continuing to expand and improve his livestock operation.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Sheep Production is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Sheep Merchandising Council sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
