COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2026 – Brooke Brumm of Mid-Buchanan won the Missouri FFA Beef Production – Placement Proficiency Award at the 98th Missouri FFA State Convention.

Brumm, a senior at Mid-Buchanan High School, is the daughter of James and Mona Brumm. She is a member of the Mid-Buchanan FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Jessica Boyer.

Brumm’s supervised agricultural experience (SAE) involves working on her family’s cow-calf operation and stocker cattle enterprise. Her duties include tagging calves, administering vaccinations, bottle-feeding calves, assisting during calving season and providing care for sick or injured animals. Brumm also helps manage stocker cattle from arrival to sale, including rotational grazing, health monitoring, mineral supplementation and the preparation of cattle for marketing.

Through her SAE, Brumm has developed skills in cattle handling, herd health management, grazing systems, and livestock production practices. She has gained hands-on experience in animal care, pasture management and beef cattle operations while contributing to the efficiency and success of the family farm.

Brumm has been an active FFA member since 2021 and has participated in agricultural education coursework throughout high school. Her experiences in beef production have strengthened her knowledge of livestock management and her commitment to a future career in agriculture.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Beef Production – Placement is one of the 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Beef Industry Council sponsors this award.

The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
