COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Dylan Rapp of Boonville won the Missouri FFA Sheep Production Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Rapp, a senior at Booneville High School, is the son of Justin and Stacy Rapp. He is a member of the Boonville FFA Chapter. His advisors are Deanna Schnuck and Doug Henke.

Rapp’s supervised agricultural experience program involves co-managing the farm, utilizing artificial insemination, assisting in all aspects of lambing season, as well as raising and showing the sheep. His responsibilities include making breeding selections, day-day feed and nutrition, daily exercise, and showmanship practice.

Rapp is involved in both FFA and 4-H, holding an officer position in both organizations. In FFA Rapp competes in livestock judging, and exhibited at several local fairs and jackpot shows. Rapp attended the Missouri Club Lamb Breeders Association Show Circuit, placing 4th overall in both Overall Wether Dam Exhibitor and Overall Senior Showman.

After graduating high school, Rapp’s plans include extending his flock and becoming a well-known producer in his county. He plans on studying agricultural education at North Central Community College while continuing his livestock judging career. Once he graduates with his associate’s degree, he plans on continuing his agricultural education degree at Oklahoma State University and adding a minor in animal science.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Sheep Production is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Sheep Merchandising Council sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
