Kanan wins Equine Science Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Brady Kanan of Willard won the Missouri FFA Equine Science – Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Kanan, a senior at Willard High School, is the son of Cody and Trinity Kanan. He is a member of the Willard FFA Chapter. His advisors are Dana Kimmons and James Asher.
Kanan’s supervised agricultural experience program involves training ponies, breaking ponies to ride, and tune-ups. At Kanan Ranch Ponies he is responsible for taking in customer’s horses to do training or marketing to the client’s desire. He is actively involved in rodeos where he competes in team roping.
Kanan has competed in the farm business management career development event.
After graduating high school, Kanan plans to continue Kanan Ranch Ponies, he plans to continue training and working hand in hand with customers.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Equine Science – Entrepreneurship is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. William Woods University Equestrian Division sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
