Kee wins Beef Production Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Ross Kee of Carrollton R7 High School won the Beef Production-Placement Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Kee, a senior at Carrollton R7 High School, is the son of Cory and Kelly Kee. He is a member of the Carrollton Area Career Center FFA Chapter. His advisor is Brooke Swindler.
Kee’s supervised agricultural experience program involves working for Burger Farms, a third-generation family-owned and operated purebred Angus beef operation located in North Central Missouri. The operation consists of two thousand acres with two hundred and sixty head of a cow-calf operation.
Kee’s responsibilities focus on ensuring cattle have food and water, and baling hay during summer months to ensure ample food supply throughout winter. During calving season, he helps to ensure calves are healthy and alive. Over the years, he has taken on more tasks and responsibilities, including transporting cattle, operating heavy equipment, and making important farm operation decisions.
After graduation, Kee plans to become a full-time employee at Burger Farms. He hopes to continue growing knowledge and skills to take over Burger Farms operation one day.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Beef Production – Placement is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Beef Industry Council sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
