COLUMBIA, Mo., April 19th, 2024 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Payton Rodgers of the Savannah FFA Chapter as the state Star in Agricultural Placement at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. She is the daughter of Blaine and Melissa Rodgers of Gallatin. Her advisors are Jeff Baumann, Jessica Aeschliman, Joe Meade and Mikaila Livingston.
State Stars in Agricultural Placement are selected based on outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA.
American Family Insurance sponsors the 16 Area Star in Agricultural Placement awards and the State Star in Agricultural Placement Award.
Rodgers’ supervised agricultural experience program involves employment at Rodgers Livestock. She is responsible for feeding and making nutritional changes, maintaining herd health, halter-breaking calves, and assisting customers with shows.
As an FFA member, Rodgers has served as the president of the Area I Association. She has also competed on a state-winning dairy evaluation career development event team. In addition to FFA, Rodgers is a member of the American Maine-Anjoy Association and the Kodiak Kadetts 4-H Club.
After high school graduation, Rodgers plans to attend Redlands Community College and judge livestock. She then plans to transfer to a four-year university to study agribusiness and agricultural communications.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
