Bledsoe receives Honorary State FFA Degree

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 19, 2024 – The Missouri FFA Association awarded Melissa Bledsoe, Ph.D., an Honorary State FFA Degree at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
Bledsoe is the newly appointed dean of the Darr College of Agriculture at Missouri State University. She has spent the last decade as a professor of plant and soil science. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and has continued to support FFA events on campus. Bledsoe has served as the superintendent of the Nursery/Landscape career development event and assisted the faculty who organize the Soils CDE.
The Missouri FFA Association recognizes Honorary State FFA Degree recipients for their valuable efforts and contributions to the FFA organization and its members. Those eligible to receive the Honorary FFA Degree include farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of the board of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agricultural education, business professionals, and others who are helping to advance agricultural education and the FFA.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
