COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Owen Davies of Savannah won the Missouri FFA Turf Grass Management Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
Davies, a senior at Savannah R-III High School, is the son of Matthew and Karen Taylor. He is a member of the Savannah FFA Chapter. His advisors are Jeff Baumann, Jessica Aeschliman, Joe Meade, and Mikaila Livingston.
Davies’ supervised agricultural experience program involves owning and operating Mowin’ with Owen, his lawn care business. His responsibilities include financial planning, maintaining equipment, and providing lawn care services.
As an FFA member, Davies has attended the American Royal Youth Leadership Day and the State FFA Trap Shoot at Linn Creek. In addition to FFA, Davies is a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
After graduating high school, Davies plans to sell his lawn care business and train to become a lineman.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Turf Grass Management is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Pro Lawns, Inc. sponsored this award.
