COLUMBIA, Mo., April 19, 2024 – The Ozark FFA Chapter won the horse evaluation and selection career development event at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 47 teams in the competition.

Team members include Olivia Schupbach, Ellah Chesick, Jackson Mills and Rylee Nichols. Out of 178 participants, Schupbach placed third, Chesick placed sixth, Mills placed seventh and Nichols placed 26th. The Ozark FFA advisors are Travis Phipps, Jeremy Sisco and Heath Wright.

Contestants evaluated eight classes of horses for performance and conformation and presented oral reasons on two of the eight classes judged. In addition, the students competed as a team in a problem-solving activity over equine science selection, management and production. Through this event, students become acquainted with current market and industry trends.
