COLUMBIA, Mo., April 15, 2026 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Dr. Jim Hutter with the Distinguished Service Citation at the 98th Missouri State FFA Convention. Hutter was honored for his outstanding service to agriculture, agricultural education and the Missouri FFA Association.

 

Hutter served as the agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor at Fair Grove High School for 3 years before joining the agricultural education faculty at Missouri State University. He served there for 36 years until his retirement.

 

Hutter received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Missouri State University, a Master of Science in Education from the University of Missouri, and a PhD from the University of Minnesota.

 

Hutter received the National Association of Agricultural Educators Lifetime Achievement Award, the Missouri Farm Bureau Service and Leadership Award and the Missouri State University Outstanding Teaching Award. Hutter also received the Honorary State FFA Degree from the Missouri FFA Association and the Honorary American FFA Degree.

 

Hutter and his wife, Leslie, reside in Springfield, Missouri. They have three sons and one daughter.

The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
