Northwest Technical School FFA soils team wins state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2026 – The Northwest Technical School FFA Chapter won the soils career development event at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 48 teams in the competition.

The team members are Kyler Snead, Cooper Mooney, Brayson Wiederholt and Allie Tobin. Snead placed 1st, Mooney placed 15th, Wiederholt placed 19th and Tobin placed 109th out of 184 participants. The Northwest Tech School FFA advisor is Jeremy Lacy.

The soils teams evaluate and analyze soil for characteristics critical to production capabilities.

Sponsored by the Missouri Fertilizer Control Board, this CDE is one way FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in the learning process and make a real connection to lifetime goals.


The Missouri FFA has 27,000 members representing 369 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,042,245 members representing 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
