Claborn of Silex FFA Chapter named State Star in Agricultural Placement

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 25th, 2025 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized McKenna Lynn Claborn of the Silex FFA Chapter as the state Star in Agricultural Placement at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention. She is the daughter of Shannon and Jessica Claborn of Silex. Her advisors are Elizabeth Kientzy and Sean O’Brien.
State Stars in Agricultural Placement are selected based on outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA.
American Family Insurance sponsors the 16 Area Star in Agricultural Placement awards and the State Star in Agricultural Placement Award.
Claborn’s supervised agricultural experience program involves employment in agribusiness, finance, and environmental systems. She works at Prairie View Seed, where she assists with crop seed distribution and agronomic services. At Silex Banking Co., she serves as a bank teller, performing customer transactions and managing safety deposit boxes. Claborn also works for a lawn care service, where she maintains landscaping through mowing, trimming, and brush removal.
As an FFA member, Claborn has served as the 1st Vice President of the Area V Association, chapter president, and chapter secretary. She has also held the national champion title for the 2024 Agricultural Issues Forum. In addition to FFA, Claborn is a member of National Honor Society, student council, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, yearbook publications, Students Against Drunk Driving, Lincoln County Youth Livestock Board, and Northrad’s Youth Group.
After high school graduation, Claborn plans to attend Texas Tech University to study plant and soil science.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
