COLUMBIA, Mo., April 23, 2024 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Kathy Kilmer with the Distinguished Service Citation at the 97th Missouri State FFA Convention. Kilmer was honored for her outstanding service to agriculture, agricultural education and the Missouri FFA Association.
Kilmer was raised in Clarksburg, Missouri on her family farm. While in high school she became a member of the California FFA and participated in State FFA Chorus and Flag corps. Kilmer’s career within agricultural education stems from her agricultural background as well as her interactions with students. She served as the administrative assistant for Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources in the office of College and Career Readiness at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education from 2005 to 2025.
Through DESE Kilmer had the opportunity to participate in assisting in Missouri FFA State Convention preparations. Kilmer was lead staff member for State FFA Camp registrations and preparations. She also assisted with the state award application submission process as well as Missouri FFA membership system and dues collection.
As part of the agricultural education team Kilmer compiled state reports, processed program requests, and provided staff and FFA advisors with technical support. She also worked with the Missouri Young Farmer/Young Farm Wives Association.
Kilmer plans to retire May 1, 2025 which marks 30 years of service to the State of Missouri. Throughout her career she has received the Missouri Honorary State FFA Degree, the Honorary American FFA Degree, and has been recognized through DESE. Kilmer and her husband reside on Hodges family farm in Clarksburg, Missouri.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
