COLUMBIA, Mo., April 23, 2025 – Carter Bell of Rich Hill won the Missouri FFA Wildlife Production and Management Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Bell, a senior at Rich Hill R-IV Schools, is the son of Marc Bell and Allison Porter-Bell. He is a member of the Rich Hill FFA Chapter. His advisor is Lora Rapp.
Bell’s supervised agriculture experience involves raising Wisconsin Jumbo Bob White quail to be sold to hunters and dog trainers nationwide. He started his production with 2,000 eggs and hatched them, eventually moving them to a flight pen at six weeks old to acclimate to the elements and strengthen their flight capabilities.
As an FFA member, Bell exhibited at the Missouri State Fair and is a member of the trap shooting team. Outside of FFA, Bell is a football player, a member of the track & field team, National Honor Society member, and a member of the concert band.
After graduation, Bell plans to manage his family’s livestock business as well as attending Pitt State Technical School to pursue a degree in electrical technology.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Wildlife production and management is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Department of Conservation sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
