Twellman wins Vegetable Production Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Easton Twellman of Silex won the Missouri FFA Vegetable Production Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Twellman, a senior at Silex R-1 High School, is the son of Eric and Rebecca Twellman. He is a member of the Silex FFA Chapter. His advisors are Elizabeth Kientzy and Sean O’Brien.
Twellman’s supervised agricultural experience involves the operation of vegetable crops focused on pumpkin production. He plants and manages 1.5 acres of pumpkins in different varieties such as Captain Jacks and Gold Standards. Responsibilities of his include seed selection, planting, pest control, harvesting, marketing, and the delivery of over 1,500 pumpkins to members of his community
As an FFA member, Twellman has served as a State FFA Convention Delegate, participated in Area, District, and State Trap Shooting, and was a member of the State HYMAX Academy.
Outside of FFA, he is a team member of the Silex Basketball team and the Varsity Boy’s Cross Country team.
After graduating high school, Twellman plans to attend Benedictine College to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees, or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Vegetable Production is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Missouri FFA Foundation sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
