Blessing wins Swine Production Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Corbin Blessing of Memphis won the Missouri FFA Swine Production Placement Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Blessing is a graduate from Scotland County R-1 Schools and is the son of Stewart and Waltedda Blessing. He is a member of the Memphis FFA Chapter. His advisor is Waltedda Blessing.

His supervised agricultural experience involves working at Blessing Family Berkshires, where he helps raise registered Berkshire and Crossbred pigs. His duties include animal care, breeding, farrowing, and evaluating litters for show stock or market stock. The market animals Blessing raises are USDA inspected and sold under the Blessing Family Berkshire’s brand, who are widely known for their premium pork products.

Blessing has exhibited at both national shows and the Missouri State Fair. He is an active member in the American and Missouri Berkshire Associations, the National Junior Swine Association, and was a leader in his 4-H Chapter and National Honor Society.

Since graduating from Scotland County R-1 Schools, Blessing has started his studies in agriculture business with minors in animal nutrition and precision agriculture at Northwest Missouri State University.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Swine Production Placement is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Missouri Pork Association sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
