COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Abigayle Lett of Odessa won the Missouri FFA Specialty Crop Production Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Letts, a senior at Odessa High School, and is the daughter of Michele and Joshua Lett. She is a member of the Odessa FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Gene Collins and Austin Ray.

Lett’s supervised agricultural experience involves taking on a true managerial role in her mum operation, planning her own purchasing, lining up and instructing help when she needs it, and making negotiations with potential clients, all while caring for and tending to the plants. Her daily responsibilities in her mum operation are ensuring they are always watered, pest free, meeting growth targets, and developing flower buds at the correct intervals. She works to sell her crop in advance, signing several contracts with wholesale customers. Lett recently bought a used greenhouse, and began constructing it at her home, and already has contracted another year’s worth of plants.

After graduating high school, Lett’s plans include going to University of Central Missouri, majoring in agricultural education. She aspires to be a high school agriculture teacher and an FFA advisor. She plans on running for a State Officer Position as well.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Specialty Crop Production is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Stoddard County Seed and Feed sponsored this award.
