Momphard wins Specialty Animal Production Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Nina Kay Momphard of Troy won the Missouri FFA Specialty Animal Production Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Momphard, a senior at Troy Buchanan High School, is the daughter of Doug and Margaret Momphard. Her advisors are Rob Calvin, Kaylee Lower and Matt McCrory.

Momphard’s supervised agricultural experience program involves the care and training of specialty animals including alpacas, llamas, highland cows, yaks, bison, longhorn, wildebeest, zebra, zebu, potbelly pigs, capybaras, kangaroos, emus, peacocks, guinea fowls, and antelope. Her responsibilities include ensuring each animal is provided with the proper enclosure requirements, grooming, proper feeding, and portion sizes to cater to each animal and their specific weight, age, diet and nutritional needs.

Through her FFA career, Momphard has attended leadership conferences and competed in public speaking events.

After graduating high school, Momphard plans to attend the University of Missouri, studying agribusiness management.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Specialty Animal Production is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Stoddard County Seed and Feed sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
