COLUMBIA, Mo., April 23, 2025 – Bryson Slinker of Ashland won the Missouri FFA Food Service Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Slinker, a senior at Southern Boone High School, is the son of Dorise Slinker and Wendy Loutzenhiser. He is a member of the Ashland FFA Chapter. His advisor is Rebekah Hammett.

Slinker’s supervised agricultural experience program involves cooking for a restaurant in his hometown called Woody’s Pub & Grub and operating his own food trailer at events. He is responsible for communicating with the wholesaler so items are delivered on time.

Slinker has exhibited at the Missouri State Fair as well as attending the Public Speaking Institute.

After graduating high school, Slinker’s plans include studying radiology at University of Central Missouri. He then plans on continuing to work his food trailer with the hopes of owning his own restaurant.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Food Service is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Seitz Fundraising sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
