Terhune wins Forage Production Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Ella Terhune of Gilman City won the Missouri FFA Forage Production Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Terhune, a Junior at Gilman City R-4, is the daughter of Michael and Kimberly Terhune. She is a member of the Gilman City FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Dan Chalfant.
Terhune’s supervised agricultural experience program includes a mowing and raking operations as well as hauling and stacking bales. She is currently renting hay ground from her grandfather. She has learned how to operate several pieces of equipment, operate a profitable enterprise and also learned how to deal with customers.
Terhune has competed in the knowledge leadership development event and horse evaluation career development event.
After graduating high school, Terhune’s plans include studying agronomy at either Kansas State University or Northwest Missouri State University. She then plans on finding a career in agronomy.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Forage Production is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. MTI Greenhouse Solutions sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
