COLUMBIA, Mo., April 23, 2025 – Hudson Murray of Harrisburg won the Missouri FFA Forest Management and Products Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Murray, a senior at Hickman High School, is the son of Shannon and Melody Murray. He is a member of the Columbia FFA Chapter. His advisor is Jacob Rahmer.
Murray’s supervised agricultural experience in timber production and harvest involves anything from running the mill and chainsaw to woodland management and upkeep. He is responsible for making choices to make sure his property is available to harvest for the foreseeable future and has available business projects for years to come.
After graduating high school, Murray’s plans include studying natural resource science and management with an emphasis in forest resources at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He then plans to work with the Missouri Department of Conservation as a forester.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Forest Management and Products is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Forest and Woodland Association of Missouri sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
