COLUMBIA, Mo., April 23, 2025 – Alexa Groeber of Montgomery City won the Missouri FFA Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Groeber, a senior at Montgomery Co. 2-II, is the daughter of Bryan and Kelly Groeber. She is a member of the Montgomery Co. R-II FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Mary Leykamp and Amanda Sullivan.

Groeber’s supervised agricultural experience program involves working for Graham Cave State Park full-time. She is responsible for caring for the restrooms, completing trail maintenance, and picking up trash. She also developed an engaging interpretive program to educate and entertain the public about the natural and cultural wonders of the park.

As an FFA member Groeber has competed on her trapshooting team as well as the employment skills LDE.

After graduating high school, Groeber plans include studying business administration at College of the Ozarks. She then plans on continuing her education to then go into business after concluding college.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Missouri Department of Natural Resources sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
