Tharp wins Dairy Production Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 — Addison Tharp of McDonald County won the Missouri FFA Dairy Production-Placement Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Tharp, a senior at Republic High School, is the daughter of Amy and Kody Tharp. She is a member of the Republic FFA Chapter. Her FFA advisors are Cody Stewart, Alec Hagan, and Duane Melton.
Tharp’s supervised agricultural experience program consists of working for multiple dairy cattle operations. Her responsibilities include milking and feeding cattle, caring for calves, prepping equipment, and assisting with show preparations.
As an FFA member, Tharp has participated in many events including Washington Leadership Conference, National FFA Livestock Show, and Missouri FFA Leadership Camp. She has also participated in the Dairy Handlers career development event at the national level. Tharp has also competed in Conduct of Chapter Meetings, Agricultural Issues, and Parliamentary Procedures leadership development events at the state level.
In addition to FFA, Tharp is a member of the Missouri Family Rodeo Association, Republic High School Leadership Team, and Republic Soccer Varsity Team. She has also been a camp counselor for the Missouri 4-H Dairy Cow Camp.
After graduation, Tharp plans to continue expanding her education and working in dairy production industries.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Dairy production entrepreneurship is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Midwest Dairy Association sponsored the award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
