COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Lindsey Engelage of Warrenton was named the Agricultural Sales – Placement Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Engelage, a Senior at Warren Co R-III High School, is the daughter of Heath Engelage and Jennifer Himmelberg and a dedicated member of the Warrenton FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Diane Miederhoff, Emily Holbert, and Amber Gerlemann.

Engelage’s supervised agricultural experience program centers around her work at Rural King in Warrenton. She began her journey as a cashier in 2022 and has steadily climbed the ranks to her current role as a Sales Associate, with a focus on the Farm and Feed Department. Her responsibilities include assisting customers in selecting the right feed, medications, and equipment, restocking inventory, completing financial transactions, and caring for live animals such as chicks and rabbits.

Over time, Engelage has taken on additional roles and responsibilities, showcasing leadership, customer service, and problem-solving skills. She has faced the challenges of learning an extensive product line and providing support to dissatisfied customers with professionalism and poise.

Her passion for agricultural sales has sparked a career goal of becoming an animal nutritionist. After graduating in 2025, Engelage plans to pursue a degree in animal nutrition and hopes to work for a veterinarian’s office or major agricultural company like Cargill or Purina. She aspires to one day return to her hometown and work with local producers, supporting them with her expertise in animal feed and health.

Through her work at Rural King and her involvement in FFA, Engelage has developed a deep appreciation for agricultural sales and service. She plans to continue her employment at Rural King throughout college, furthering her skills and supporting her education.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Sales Placement is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Bunge sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
