COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Brie Dailey of Osceola won the Missouri FFA Agriscience Research Integrated Systems Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.
Dailey, a junior at Osceola High School, is the daughter of William and Bobbie Dailey. She is a member of the Osceola FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Jill Chapman.
Dailey’s supervised agricultural experience program focuses on an agriscience research project investigating the relationship between beef quality grades and fat content using the Soxhlet extraction method. This project analyzed five beef grades, including Choice, Prime, and various Wagyu grades, to determine how fat content varied and its relationship with moisture percentage and chemical lean percent.
Her responsibilities were focused on learning foundational research techniques, such as understanding the Soxhlet extraction method, proper sample preparation, and initial data collection.
Her background in barbecue competitions and catering provided insight into meat quality and flavor development.
Following graduation, Dailey plans to continue exploring innovative research opportunities in areas like food science, materials development, and sustainable processes.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees, or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agriscience Research is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. FMC Corporation sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
