COLUMBIA, Mo., April 24, 2025 – Lynn Dyer of Higginsville won the Missouri FFA Agricultural Education Proficiency Award at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Lynn, a graduate from Lafayette County C-1 High School, is the daughter of Steve and Kim Dyer. She is a member of the Higginsville FFA Chapter. Her advisors were Adam Brock and Courtney Chaney.

Dyer’s supervised agricultural experience involves working with schools and FFA to educate students about agriculture. Her responsibilities included facilitating activities, planning state training days, communicating with various schools, and critiquing speeches. Her position helped spread the word of agriculture to younger generations.

Dyer was a Teen Leader for the Ag Innovators Experience. This allowed her to get hands-on experience, problem solving and teach others.

Dyer’s future includes staying involved in a variety of agricultural outlets while completing her agricultural education degree at Northwest Missouri State University. Once she completes her degree she plans on becoming a high school agriculture teacher.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Education is one of 45 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association sponsored the award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
