Thompson receives Honorary State FFA Degree

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 25, 2025 – The Missouri FFA Association awarded Dwayne Thompson an Honorary State FFA Degree at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention.

Thompson has worked at Lake of the Ozarks State Park since 2004. Over the past 22 seasons, he has been responsible for overseeing the drinking water and wastewater systems at Camp Rising Sun, home of the Missouri State FFA Leadership Camp each summer. As he prepares for the 2025 season, it will mark his 23rd year of ensuring safe and reliable water flow for the thousands of FFA members who gather at Camp Rising Sun each summer.

The Missouri FFA Association recognizes Honorary State FFA Degree recipients for their valuable efforts and contributions to the FFA organization and its members. Those eligible to receive the Honorary FFA Degree include farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of the board of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agricultural education, business professionals, and others who are helping to advance agricultural education and the FFA.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
