Pleasant Hill FFA Nursery/Landscaping team wins state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 23, 2025 – The Pleasant Hill FFA Chapter won the nursery/landscaping career development event at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 50 teams in the competition.
The team members are Olivia Wingard, Maddux Umscheid, Davin Sdorf, and Anna Young. Wingard placed 1st, Umcheid placed 12th, Sdorf placed 14th, and Young placed 57th out of 192 participants. The Pleasant Hill FFA advisor is Tyler Burgin and AJ Wingard.
STIHL Outdoor Power Equipment awards scholarships to the top four individuals in the nursery/landscaping CDE.
Individuals in this event are scored on their knowledge of production, marketing, utilization, and culture of landscape plants. Students apply the information they learn in their horticulture and landscape design classes.
Sponsored by STIHL Outdoor Power Equipment, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
