COLUMBIA, Mo., April 23, 2025 – The North Shelby FFA Chapter won the agricultural mechanics career development event at the 97th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 45 teams in the competition.

The team members are Sam Schwanke, Jared Johnston, Quintin Wiedeman, and Kaden Hunolt. Schwanke placed 1st, Johnston placed 3rd, Wiedeman placed 7th, and Hunolt placed 12th out of 171 participants. The North Shelby FFA advisors are Tim Davis, Jenny Bradley, and Harold Eckler.

Teams in this event consist of four students who solve a multi-system agricultural problem scenario. The team works to solve the problem and prepare a report while judges evaluate. Additionally, individuals complete a written exam that covers five agricultural technology and mechanical areas: compact equipment, electricity, environment and natural resources, machinery and equipment and structures.

Sponsored by Sydenstrcker Nobbe Partners, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 26,900 members representing 365 chapters. The national organization has more than 1,027,273 members representing 9,235 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
