COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Meghan Ann Edwards of Saint Catherine won the Missouri FFA Veterinary Science Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. 

Edwards, a senior at Brookfield R-III High School, is the daughter of Jeff and Heidi Edwards. She is a member of the Brookfield FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Jessica Dobrzenski.

Edwards’ supervised agricultural experience program involves employment at Brookfield Veterinary Clinic as a receptionist and veterinary assistant. Her responsibilities include cleaning equipment, taking medicinal product inventory, and accompanying veterinarians on farm calls.

As an FFA member, Edwards competed in career developments on the state level and exhibited at the Missouri State Fair. Outside of FFA, she is a member of the golf team and the Missouri Club Calf Association. 

After graduating high school, Edwards plans to attend North Central Missouri College to earn an associate’s degree.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Veterinary Science is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri FFA Foundation sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
