Twyman is state winner in small animal production and care proficiency award area

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Savannah Twyman of Higginsville won the Missouri FFA Small Animal Production and Care Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
Twyman, a graduate of Lafayette County C-1 High School, is the daughter of Andrew and Shelli Twyman. She is a member of the Higginsville FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Adam Brock and Courtney Chaney.
Twyman’s supervised agricultural experience program involves raising, selling, and showing rabbits. Her responsibilities include caring for the rabbits, assisting her parents at shows, and judging rabbit shows.
As an FFA member, Twyman was a member of the State FFA Chorus and exhibited at the Missouri State Fair. In addition to FFA, she is a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association and was a high school football cheerleader.
Twyman plans to complete an instructional welding program at Grand River Welding Institute and become a welder in a shop or on the pipeline.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Small Animal Production and Care is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Missouri FFA Foundation sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
