COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Tucker Meyer of Keytesville won the Missouri FFA Service Learning Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.

Meyer, a senior at Keytesville High School, is the son of Bob and Delinda Meyer. He is a member of the Keytesville FFA Chapter. His advisor is Carley McCall.

Meyer’s supervised agricultural experience program involves growing, harvesting, and  selling sweet corn to raise money for LeLand Linneman Foundation. He is responsible for developing a written plan for planting and harvesting sweet corn, and where to then sell the product at local farmers markets. His profits, through the LeLand Linneman Foundation, go to scholarships and other financial support for local charities, FFA, and 4-H organizations.

Meyer has competed in the agricultural technology and mechanical systems career development event. He has also competed on his chapter’s trap shooting team.

After graduating high school, Meyer’s plans include studying agricultural business at Missouri Valley College. He then plans on continuing his education to study education in hopes to become a physical education teacher.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Service Learning is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. North Central Missouri College Barton Farm Campus sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
